SPRING HVAC CHECKLIST
ESSENTIAL SPRING HVAC MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR A COOLER HOME
Air conditioning filter: Remove the indoor unit filter and observe whether there is dust, hair, or flocculent accumulation. If the filter is severely clogged, use a soft brush to gently brush off the surface dirt, then soak it in warm water containing an appropriate amount of neutral detergent for 15-20 minutes, rinse it with clean water, and install it back into the air conditioner after it is naturally dried. It is recommended to check and clean it 1-2 times a month.
Fresh air system filter: Check the primary filter, medium filter, and high-efficiency filter in turn to see if they have reached the replacement cycle or are damaged. The primary filter can be washed and cleaned. If the medium and high-efficiency filters have not reached the replacement cycle, use a vacuum cleaner to gently remove dust; if they have reached their service life or the filtering effect has significantly decreased, they should be replaced in time. Usually, the primary filter is checked and cleaned every 1-3 months, the medium filter is replaced every 3-6 months, and the high-efficiency filter is replaced every 6-12 months.
EQUIPMENT APPEARANCE AND INSTALLATION INSPECTION
Indoor unit/outdoor unit: Carefully check whether the indoor and outdoor unit shells are deformed, rusted, cracked, etc.; check whether the mounting bracket is firm, loose, deformed or rusted; check whether the fixing screws are tightened to ensure that the equipment is firmly installed to prevent vibration and noise during operation.
Pipes and connecting parts: Check whether the refrigerant pipes, drain pipes, etc. have signs of damage, aging, and leakage; check whether the pipe insulation layer is intact. If it is damaged or detached, repair or replace it in time to avoid condensation and energy loss; check the sealing of each connection to ensure that there is no looseness or air leakage.
Environment around the outdoor unit: Clean up the debris around the outdoor unit, such as branches, fallen leaves, plastic bags, etc., to ensure that there is enough ventilation space around the outdoor unit, and keep a distance of at least 50-100 cm from front to back and left to right to avoid poor ventilation affecting the heat dissipation and operation efficiency of the equipment.
OPERATION PERFORMANCE TEST
Cooling and heating effect: Turn on the air conditioner cooling and heating mode, set the appropriate temperature, observe the indoor temperature changes, and feel whether the air volume and temperature at the air outlet are normal. After running for 15-30 minutes, use a thermometer to measure the difference between the indoor temperature and the set temperature. Generally, the temperature difference should be above 8℃ during cooling and above 15℃ during heating. If the cooling and heating effects are not good, it may be due to insufficient refrigerant, compressor failure, or dirty heat exchanger, and further inspection is required.
Wind speed adjustment function: Test the wind speed adjustment function of the air conditioner, switch to low wind, medium wind, and high wind modes in turn, check whether the wind speed has obvious changes, and whether the air volume at the air outlet is uniform. If the wind speed is abnormal or the air volume is unstable, it may be a fan failure or air duct blockage.
